Hyun Jhong Yi

Hyun Jhong began her career in financial aid as a Federal Work-Study student in her college’s financial aid office. This early experience laid the foundation for her expertise and commitment. Today, she is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the Title IV and financial aid sector, serving in roles across public, proprietary, and non-profit institutions, as well as with the U.S. Department of Education.

She has been instrumental in guiding students through every step of the financial aid process, provided thorough and individualized guidance to students, ensuring they were well-informed about their financial aid awards, the options available to them, and the specific requirements necessary to receive aid.

Hyun Jhong clearly explained student loan responsibilities and repayment requirements, making the process easy to understand. Her guidance reduced confusion and empowered students to make informed decisions about financial aid.

Hyun Jhong trained staff on Title IV procedures, ensuring accurate federal student aid administration. She reviewed Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) to resolve conflicting information and compliance issues, calculated Return of Title IV funds for withdrawals, and maintained financial aid integrity through and regulatory adherence.

Hyun Jhong spent 15 years at the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Federal Student Aid, supporting the San Francisco/Seattle School Participation Division. As an Audit Resolution Specialist and Payment Analyst, she ensured institutional compliance with federal regulations—particularly for schools under Heightened Cash Monitoring—and reviewed annual audits. She evaluated practices to protect federal financial aid program integrity and mastered systems like G6, NSLDS, and COD to assist institutions.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Hyun Jhong values quality time with her family. She especially enjoys spending time with her two sons, actively supporting them as they participate in soccer, tennis, and basketball. Watching her children engage in these sports brings her immense joy and is an important part of her life.

In addition to her family activities, Hyun Jhong is an enthusiastic supporter of her local basketball team, the Golden State Warriors. Cheering on the Warriors is a favorite pastime, reflecting her connection to the local community and her love of sports.
