Breneé Johnson
Breneé possesses 18 years of experience in the operations and compliance of financial aid within higher education institutions. Her career in the financial aid community began as a fiscal assistant in a Bursar’s Office, followed by roles as a Financial Aid Counselor, Team Leader, and Trainer at an online university. Most recently, Breneé served as a Senior Institutional Review Specialist in the Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid. During her tenure at the Department, she was a part of both the New York/Boston School Participation Division and the Multi-Regional and Foreign Schools Division. This experience provided her with the opportunity to learn and execute compliance determinations in School Eligibility, Compliance Audits, Program Reviews, and Method of Payment. She has worked with all school types, including nonprofit, private, proprietary, and public institutions, ranging from small, single-program neighborhood schools to publicly traded school groups offering programs from cosmetology to medical doctor.
She specializes in developing policies and procedures, Return to Title IV (R2T4), packaging aid, compliance reviews, and training new professionals in financial aid. Breneé has experience with the Department of Education’s G6, COD, NSLDS, and Partner Connect systems, and many of the institutional financial aid software and programs. Her comprehensive working knowledge, combined with her school administrative office skills, and federal oversight experience, will undoubtedly assist institutions with risk management, audit preparedness, and efficiency.
Breneé holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness and Applied Economics with a minor in Communications from The Ohio State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from DePaul University.
